Merciless human forces have long carved out the majestic mountains of the Apuan Alps in Tuscany, Italy’s most marble-rich area. Piastra Marina quarry is the highest quarry of the Apuan Alps Regional Park, located at 1645 masl and now temporarily shut down, due to the illegal exploitation of the natural resources of the area.
This Man-made landscape now slowly goes back to its original pace, white snow lays over the white marble blocks, in an astonishing scenery where nature gently meets human destroying force.
